We can't believe that Toshi is one month old right now!! I also can't believe that we are still alive at this point haha ... or should I say functioning?!

The day Toshi was born, 6/25/13, felt like such a long time ago. Dawn and I both can't believe that it has already been a month since this little guy came to life and blessed us with lots of sleepless nights, crazy fussy moments, but most importantly lots of love. We are loving every minute of it and we both couldn't be happier.

So needless to say Dawn has to go back to work this upcoming week. She's only planning to do half days for now to see how her body is going to handle waking up earlier and getting Toshi over to papa's house... oh yeah, and working on people. That also implies that I have to wake up earlier to take Kekoa out so Dawn can focus on getting Toshi and herself ready. Not sure if I'm going to like waking up at 5:15AM!!!

I really hope he sleeps well throughout the night but this guy is a talker in his sleep. The past few nights he tends to make all sorts of noises in his sleep. At first it's annoying because you think he's up but when you check on him he's still sleeping! Luckily we both know his cry for food but I always think, "you never know..." and it's better to check. 

This past week at work I decided to take half days so I can spend more time with Dawn and Toshi in the afternoon. Instead it has become MY designated nap time haha. Dawn should be napping but I always tell her that I'll take Toshi and she can nap..... but I tend to fall asleep with him on me. 

Besides sleeping I decided to start running Kekoa with my bike. I find it scary as hell because he could dart in my path and I'll just fly over my handle bars and possibly hurt Kekoa.  Luckily I know the streets in my area so I chose the block with no cats or dogs and we got up to 20.8 MPH!!! woohoo!!! 

This past week it has been really hot. So for Kekoa he can't wait to get home and lay down in our dining area after our walk. The floors are much cooler and we so happen to catch him laying next to Toshi. Of course he points his ass to him since he tends to crop dust us.

Since Toshi will be with mama and papa this upcoming week we had to start introducing the bottle.  We've been doing bottle feeds once a day since Dawn doesn't want Toshi to forget about breast feeding (and make it too easy for him).  So this will be perfect daddy and Toshi bonding time as I got to bottle feed him this past week. I was a little nervous at first since I only imagined milk just overflowing out of his mouth, choking, lots of spit up because he's just chugging away ... but Toshi made it easy for me haha. I gotta say that I actually enjoy this moment with him.

And 10 minutes later we are all pau. 

Fun filled weekend

This past weekend was a lot of fun, filled with friends and family.

To start things off Dawn and I were talking about going out to restaurants with Toshi since all he really does is sleep. So Saturday morning we decided to go out for breakfast and no other place like our favorite Japanese breakfast spot. This will be Dawn's first time having quail egg in her natto since she got pregnant and she looooved it! We were also told that they will be open on Sunday mornings!! We absolutely love this place :)

Once we got home I wanted to finish up the nursery with the decal from our baby registry, mount the webcam so we can see in the crib, as well as other house hold duties (installing the soap pumps from Papa... that I got a while ago =/ hahaha).  So needless to say I FINALLY got all of these small task done.

We were able to get all of this done, go for our usual 1 hour walk with Kekoa and the baby stroller and in time for dinner with our friends.

It was great to see everyone together and the guys realized that ... "This is it ..." This is our lives with all of us having kids (of all ages) going over to each other's houses or to the parks etc. The most comforting part was being able to talk to Andrew and Bobby and to relate that I wasn't the only one getting frustrated with Toshi or their kids. I won't lie and I'm completely honest that my tolerance is not high for Toshi, yet. I get frustrated because I don't know what he wants, why he's crying, why he's fussy etc. and I evidently take it out on Dawn by being short and grumpy with her. I later apologize to her because of that :)

Seeing these two guys and being open to them about my feelings of frustration felt really good. I normally don't like to admit this kind of stuff but I was happy to hear how they felt and what they went through when they had their first child in the first month or two.

Anyways, enough with being serious, dinner was amazing.  I've noticed that every parent has doubled their speed of food consumption. Kids eat so fast that the parents have to keep up with them. The dinner table was always half occupied with the other half was watching their kids play in the living room making sure they don't get into any trouble haha. It's funny that as a new parent everything is starting making sense as to why parents do the things they do. I also began to notice growth in my friends' kids (physical & cognitive development) when I never really paid much attention to it.

I found it funny that Barrett and Brynn made eye contact with my camera haha. And then Barrett wouldn't stop staring at the camera so I had to take another one!!

On Sunday, we had our family come over since Sus was leaving for another work trip this week. We catered from Harry's Cafe right down the street and it was soooo good. Nothing like fatty, LA, Hawaiian food.

Everyone finally came over around 11:45 ... Sorry Papa, couldn't get you in the pic haha. Not sure if that's worse than Aya in taking photos :P

After lunch I had a basketball game at 4:30. So in the spirit of Basketball we got an extremely cute Lakers themed beanie and shoes from Mrs. Yamazaki. We absolutely loved it and even though it's pretty big on him ... we had to put it on. Every time I see this pic I think he's giving us the local shaka with his left hand haha.

His shoes even have laces!!! ... So sick :) haha

Farts and toots

This week has been pretty unusual to say the least. Toshi hasn't been sleeping well throughout the nights and it takes a huge toll on Dawn.  I don't know how Dawn does it but she is such an amazing mommy :) To help out I try to keep busy by going to the grocery store for her, keeping the house clean, and doing yard work almost every weekend.

Anyways, one of Dawn's friends came over to visit us and I for one haven't seen her for years. It was great to see her and talk about Toshi for a couple hours. Dawn and Megan would meet up for doggie play dates once in a while so Kekoa and Otis can play with each other. I have yet to see them play but I know he has a good time since he is always tired when he comes home afterwards. Maybe next time we see her we can have those two guys play together again.

Toshi hasn't really been pooping a lot as he used to. Now, he takes about 2-3 poops a day but he does have the occasional skid mark in his diaper from a wet shart or something. With that said I can't express how many times this little guy farts!! It's so bad that when I am holding him and Kekoa is sitting next to me, Kekoa gets up, sniffs around, looks at us, and walks away!!! O_O hahaha.

Even worse is that today I was checking if he pooped because there was this rolling, hard, fart.  So I proceeded to check his diaper but instead of looking from afar and taking a peek I decided to open it and sniff it.  However, when I started to sniff his diaper ... he farted on me!!!!!!!!!! =(  Dawn said he got that from me since I fart in front of her without telling her or I fart under the cover and pretend nothing happened until it's too late and she gets a huge breeze from under the covers har har har!!!

First basketball game

It's official, we're starting him young at 3 weeks old :).  We took Toshi to my basketball game and not that it was a surprise but he slept through the entire game. With all the yelling, bouncing of the ball, running up and down the court, he didn't flinch at all. Out cold for sure.

Dawn and I are glad that he can sleep through anything right now. Basketball games, Kekoa barking at random times, me yelling at Kekoa, and other people's chatter.  I told Dawn tonight that when it is safe we should go to a restaurant.  We just have to time it right so we eat when he's not hungry haha.

One of my teammates bought us a gift and it totally caught us off guard. We were thankful for his time and generosity to pick up this gift and of course ... every baller would love for their kids to have bball gear. So this was extremely fitting for us :)

I did some tummy time with Toshi today and every time I look at this picture my eyes wander to the left and I see my chest hairs. My first thought is, "DAMN! That's a fuzzy patch." hahaha

And the truth be told

I knew it and I said it before ... Toshi WILL pee and poop when it is my turn to give him a bath haha.

It started off fine but being that it was my very first attempt I took a lot longer than Dawn. I started to wash his face and neck and proceeded downwards. However I was being extra careful since I consider him pretty fragile.  Anyways, after I poured the water on him to rinse off all the soap he started to pee on himself!! I didn't catch it at first.  He go soooo upset that he started to pee on himself =/.   Then I washed his back and bottom side but as I put him down he must have been screaming so much that he sharted!! I laughed but then I felt even worse because now he pee'd and pooped himself while I was giving him a bath. First thought was ... "Damn .. How did I know he was going to do this to me hahaha"

Lastly, I noticed Toshi had a new pose when sleeping. I know, I know ... majority of these pics of Toshi is sleeping but he's either sleeping or nursing .. and yeah. We know how that goes.

First week back at work

The title says it all ... I decided to go back to work this week.  It has been pretty interesting because now I have to wake up at a specific time vs. last week I could wake up at 7, 8 or 9AM.  Running on 4-5 hours of sleep is pretty rough but I'm sure I can get used to it. Thank god I picked up an Italian Roast (Dark Roast) for my Keurig at work. That is some amazing coffee haha.

Work is work but all throughout the day I'm always thinking of Toshi and my Boo. So as soon as the clock hits 430, I'm out!!

I asked Dawn if we could wash Toshi together as soon as I got home.  He was actually much better this time around and wasn't so resistant. I can honestly say that he liked it instead of grumbling and moaning all the time. I watched Dawn wash him so the next time around it'll be my turn. Knowing my luck he'll pee in my face and poop in the net hahaha. **knock on wood**

After his shower we put on his new outfit we got from Naomi and Marcus :)

Dawn is getting much better at taking pictures with my camera... although I couldn't get Toshi's head to be straight haha.

I gave Dawn a short break to shower and eat dinner while I got Toshi to fall asleep .. that's the least I could do since she had him all day haha .. or more like ooops.

Night night, son. You are now two weeks old ... another 1,350 more weeks to go until you're off my medical insurance :) hahaha

Visitors

I can't help it but I love these kind of pictures of Toshi :)

This past weekend has been filled with visitors from near and far. Being that we can't bring Toshi to the party yet it's awesome to see family and friends come to us in excitement of meeting Toshi for the first time. We truly appreciate it!

Tom was planning to visit us on Saturday morning and afterwards head up to papa's house for some Tito's. So, Dawn was like, "Hey ... we want Tito's too!!!" So we spoke with Papa in advanced and he agreed to have EVERYONE over, including Miles & Co. haha. It was great to have everyone in one spot to talk story over some good food!

Shortly after our lunch we had to head back home since my sister, Naomi, and her husband, Marcus, were planning to visit us. They were in town for a conference in San Diego so they drove up once they had the opportunity to do so.

I fired up the grill and made everyone some ribeye steaks. This would be the first time Dawn could have her meat slightly pink. Honestly ... well done meat cooked for a pregnant woman sucks. It is sooo tough and dry! And to be fair whenever I cooked steaks at home when she was pregnant I made mine well done too haha. Anyways, dinner was amazing and having them over was such a treat. We can't wait to have the whole family together since it was just them without the boys.

Yup .. I rarely take a nice/serious picture hahaha.

To wrap up the weekend, before I head back to work tomorrow, I detailed Dawn's car (total of 5.5 hours) and groomed Kekoa (filed his nails and gave him a bath).  After all of this I had to take a nap before the usual Sunday night basketball pickup ... Dawn was able to take this picture :)

If it wasn't for Dawn I probably would have slept through basketball!
